Program Events
Program events provide opportunities for fellows to meet and collaborate with their peers and departments. There is structured time and space to network with UC faculty, other President's and Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellows, in addition to the Annual Fall Meeting with participants from the Dissertation-Year Fellowship Program, UC-HBCU Program, UC-HSI Program and the Cal-Bridge Program.

Academic Year Kick-off Luncheon
These regional luncheons are opportunities for second year fellows to share their postdoctoral fellowship experience and for new fellows to share their plans for the coming year.
Annual Fall Meeting
The Fall Meeting of the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs, Dissertation-Year Fellowship Program, UC-HBCU Fellows Program, UC-HSI-DDI Pre-Professoriate Fellows Program, and the Cal-Bridge Program will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Oakland.
The Fall Meeting offers workshops and discussion groups for mentors and fellows on such topics as mentoring, publishing, grant writing, navigating the academic job market, and the tenure process. There will be opportunities to network with UC faculty, other President's Postdoctoral Fellows, Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellows, and participants in the Dissertation-Year Fellowship Program, UC-HBCU Fellows Program, UC-HSI-DDI Pre-Professoriate Fellows Program, and Cal-Bridge Program. All new and continuing fellows and their mentors are encouraged to attend this event.
Winter Writing Retreat
The Winter Writing Retreat will be held in southern California at a date to be scheduled. This is an opportunity for Fellows to devote writing time to works in progress and exchange feedback with one another on current research and writing. The writing retreat provides Fellows with the opportunity to discuss journal publication, book contracts, and interviews with invited professors.
Academic Spring Retreat
This year’s Academic Retreat will be held Thursday, April 23 - Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Lake Arrowhead. Fellows and mentors have found the retreat to be a very worthwhile and enjoyable program event. The retreat provides opportunities for postdoctoral fellows to present research papers and to receive both substantive and stylistic feedback on their presentations. The retreat also provides an opportunity for faculty members and postdoctoral fellows to discuss academic professional development topics.
Campus events
Throughout the year, fellows are invited to various campus luncheons, social hours, and other opportunities to network with the host campus faculty and other fellows.
40th Anniversary Celebration
The 40th Anniversary Celebration for the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was held on Monday, November 4 – Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center in Los Angeles. The program included professional development workshops for fellows and faculty during the day and a dinner celebration honoring founding members and outstanding faculty mentors of the program.
