About PPFP

The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstanding women and minority PhD recipients to pursue academic careers at the University of California.

The program

The current program offers postdoctoral research fellowships, professional development and faculty mentoring to outstanding scholars in all fields whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to the research excellence and public service missions of the University of California.

Faculty appointments

The goal of the program is to provide research opportunity and career development for scholars whose work will enhance academic excellence at the University of California. Approximately 70% of UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellows have received tenure track faculty appointments. Since 2003, over 400 former fellows received faculty appointments at University of California campuses.

Partnership for faculty development

The UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports partner programs sponsored by Cal-Bridge, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, New York University, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Virginia Tech, individual UC campuses and the UC National Laboratories.
